How Do You Explain

Verse 1:
how do explain about being tired
to a child who sleeps eleven hours a day
from his elation I am inspired
to find the extra energy to play
he's holding onto promises unclouded by the atmosphere
he's holding onto promises he's a child

Verse 2:
how do explain about love
to a youth who's still waiting to be kissed
there's so much that their unaware of
then again maybe I'm the one who's missed
holding out for promises denying what I held inside
holding out for promises I was a child

Verse 3:
how do you explain about time
the constant ticking ticks away the frantic second hand
the way you fight it is a crime
deny the answer to the question you may never understand
you're holding on with promises in the fast lane like a house afire
you're holding on with promises you're like a child

how do you explain about life
complicated explanations unimproved by repetition
at time simple  movement is such delight
at times like this I want to share it with everyone
I'm letting go of promises smiling at the gentle breeze
